Fair Use Policy

This Fair Use Policy describes responsible use of ChangeEagle (the "Service"). It supplements our Terms of Service. By using the Service you agree to both documents.

1. Monitor limits

The number of active monitors you may create depends on your plan and may change as described on the pricing page. Free and paid tiers may include different caps on monitors, alert recipients, and feature access.

• Creating monitors solely to consume resources, probe limits, or circumvent restrictions is prohibited.
• We may pause or reject new monitors if your account approaches or exceeds plan limits.
• Administrative accounts used for testing must not burden production infrastructure without authorization.

2. Check frequency

Each monitor runs on a schedule you configure, subject to a minimum interval for your plan. The Service applies additional timing controls — including jitter — so checks do not occur at perfectly predictable intervals.

• Do not attempt to force checks more often than your plan or our systems allow.
• Manual "check now" actions are rate limited to prevent abuse.
• Quiet hours and delivery queues may delay alerts even when a condition is detected.

3. Domain throttling

To protect third-party sites and shared infrastructure, we limit how aggressively the Service fetches the same domain — across your monitors and across all users.

• Concurrent checks per domain may be capped; additional checks are queued or delayed.
• Minimum spacing between requests to the same domain may apply.
• We honor robots.txt and similar access signals where configured.
• Repeated failures, blocks, or unusual traffic patterns may trigger automatic backoff.

Configuring many monitors against a single domain to evade throttling is not permitted.

4. Prohibited monitoring

You may only monitor content you are legally allowed to access and monitor. The following uses are prohibited:

• Pages behind logins, paywalls, or access controls you are not authorized to bypass.
• Credential harvesting, session hijacking, or monitoring of authentication flows.
• Illegal surveillance of individuals, employee monitoring without authority, or stalking.
• Collection of personal data about third parties without a lawful basis and appropriate notice.
• Monitoring that violates a website's terms, applicable law, or reasonable expectations of the site owner.
• Government, financial, medical, or other regulated systems where automated monitoring is restricted.

You are responsible for evaluating whether a given URL is appropriate to monitor. When in doubt, obtain permission from the site owner or refrain from monitoring.

5. Automated abuse

The Service must not be used to attack, overwhelm, or exploit other systems. You must not:

• Conduct denial-of-service or distributed load attacks against monitored sites or the Service itself.
• Create large numbers of accounts or monitors to bypass limits, obfuscate activity, or harass site owners.
• Automate signup, login, or API access in ways that violate rate limits or security controls.
• Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or unsolicited communications.
• Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities of third-party sites through our infrastructure without authorization.

6. AI usage limits

AI-assisted extraction and condition evaluation — including calls to providers such as DeepSeek — are optional features subject to separate limits:

• Daily or per-account caps on AI-assisted checks may apply.
• Only a bounded portion of page text is sent per request; oversized content is truncated or skipped.
• AI may be disabled automatically when limits are reached; deterministic checks may still run where possible.
• Do not craft monitors intended primarily to consume AI quota or exfiltrate model responses.
• Do not rely on AI output for compliance, legal, medical, safety-critical, or similarly high-stakes decisions.

7. Enforcement

We may take one or more of the following actions if we reasonably believe this policy, our Terms, or applicable law has been violated, or if your use poses risk to the Service, other users, or third-party sites:

• Throttle or delay checks and alerts.
• Pause individual monitors or entire accounts.
• Suspend or terminate accounts, including permanent closure for serious or repeated abuse.
• Block domains or URL patterns associated with abuse.
• Report unlawful activity to appropriate authorities where required or appropriate.

Enforcement decisions are made in our reasonable discretion to protect the Service. We are not obligated to provide prior notice in urgent security or abuse situations.

8. Appeals and contact

If your account or monitors have been restricted and you believe the action was taken in error, contact support@changeeagle.com from your registered email address with:

• Your account email and a brief description of the issue.
• The monitors or domains affected, if known.
• Any relevant context showing lawful, good-faith use.

We will review good-faith appeals within a reasonable period. Submission of an appeal does not guarantee reinstatement.

Website owners who believe a ChangeEagle user is misusing the Service against their site may also contact support@changeeagle.com with the domain, approximate timing, and a description of the activity.
